Xiaonao Liu, Ph.D.

Dr. Xiaonao Liu is a former nanomaterial fabrication specialist at California Institute of Technology and a research assistant professor at Zhejiang University in China. She has more than 18 years research and hand-on experience in the nanomaterial science, chemical engineering, and printing engineering, and developed the industrialize high-throughput nanomaterial synthesis and screening platform. She was a visiting scholar at Washington University in St. Louis (WUSTL) and University of California at Santa Barbara (UCSB). She achieved four national and provincial grants with 20+ peer-reviewed papers (>200 citations) and 2 issued patents.

Ruoting Yang, Ph.D.

Dr. Ruoting Yang is an expert in biomarker research and artificial intelligence. He earned his PhD. in Systems Science and Mathematics at Washington University in St. Louis (WUSTL) and executed Postdoctoral research in Systems Biology at the University of CaliforniaSanta Barbara (UCSB). He has over 20 years of research experience in directing and performing medical research projects with a strong publication record. He specializes in machine learning and deep neural network in big medical data.  He has two pending patents in PTSD biomarkers, and more than 40 peer-reviewed papers and two book chapters.

Christopher Kolanko, Ph.D.

Dr. Christopher Kolanko has over 25 years of industry and military professional experience and has been responsible for the development of biological/chemical threat agent and advanced medical diagnostic technologies. He was the founder of two technology companies that received numerous DOD SBIRs and advanced development funding. Dr. Kolanko graduated with a Ph.D. in Genetics and Developmental Biology from West Virginia University and currently has the position of Adjunct Associate Professor within the Lane Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering and the Department of Ophthalmology at West Virginia University.

Carrie is a seasoned strategic marketer who has broad working experience in both academia and industry. She successfully led marketing, ecommerce and product management teams in fortune 500 companies and startups within biotech and IT industries. Carrie has an entrepreneurial spirit and is very passionate about technology innovation. Carrie holds a Master of Business Administration from Rady School of Management, University of California, San Diego. She also did her master’s study in Microbiology at Wuhan university, China.

Averell Gnatt, Ph.D.

Head of Project Management, Technology Solutions

Dr. Averell Gnatt is a clinical pharmacologist, biochemist and biophysicist with drug and device expertise. His findings were highlighted in a Nobel Lecture and on the cover of Science and Cell, withnumerous other high impact publications. He recently served as a Senior Engineer Scientist Consultant for DARPA, with prior positions as PI at Stanford University School of Medicine, and PI in the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Dr. Gnatt was director of biopharmaceuticals at the Theradaptive and director of biopolymers at HPPE/Fina Biosolutions. His MSc is from the Weizmann Institute of Science, and his PhD. inBiological Chemistry from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Yifeng Shi, Ph.D.

Senior NanoMaterial Scientist

Dr. Shi is a nanomaterial synthesis and screening scientist with over 22 years reseach experiencein design and synthesis nanostructured materials. He holds a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Fudan University and he has published more than 60 peer-reviewed papers with more than 7000 citations.

Buyu (Louis) Yeh, M.S.

Sensor Development Scientist

Buyu (Louis) has more than 10 years’ experience in manufacturing and analyzing integrated circuit package, sensor development, and introducing product to mass production. He graduated with M.S in material science and engineering at the Ohio State University and National Chung Hsing University.

Daniel Watson brings over 15 years combined experience in Printing and Imaging Software Administration, Information Technology Management, Agile Software Development and Cybersecurity to the Nanobiofab team. In addition to architecting and publishing open-source software packages, his qualifications include both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Computer Science, as well as Post-Graduate certification in Computer Networks and Cybersecurity.
